Don't be mad John Longo White Party was a Blast!

White Party Palm Springs Review By: Joshua Miller

Jeffrey Sanker’s White Party Palm Springs was bigger and better than ever this year. With top notch performances and DJ’s it was not hard to stay completely entertained during the weekend.

Contrary to the opinions of disgruntled blogger (John Longo on circuitcadence.com) tickets were on sale for $195.00 back in December. Many reminders of raised prices were sent out in email blasts and on the White Party Palm Springs Official Website www.jeffreysanker.com

(Rumor has it John Longo was all bent out of shape because he wasn't granted Media Credentials for the event)

Myself and most people at White Party Palm Springs 2010 thought that Jeffrey Sanker raised the bar this year. After having Lady Gaga perform and record numbers of attendance in 2009, even I was skeptical. But this year did not disappoint. Jeffrey Sanker got back to basics and the entire weekend revolved around not an entertainer but THE MUSIC and the WORLD CLASS DJ’s that kept the dance floor and ambiance flowing throughout the weekend.

I heard from reliable sources that over 1 million dollars was spent on the 3 day production. Having been to many white parties in the past it was quite obvious that this years was over the top in sound, lighting and production. The stage and dance floor at the main event was bigger and better then ever with neon lights and sizzling Go Go Boys gyrating through the night. The T Dance doubled in size, additional rides featured and a Jaw Dropping fireworks display synchronized to the Grammy Winning song “When Love Takes Over” and Glee’s “Don’t Stop Believing.”

As to the absurd comment that Jeffrey Sanker should not be hiring straight DJs like The Freemasons (in spite of the fact that the majority of those attending thought that their music was one of the Highlights of the weekend) is ridiculous! Isn’t acceptance what we have been fighting for all these years? Haven’t we in the Gay community moved beyond reverse discrimination? Now is the time not to turn our back on any demographic that loves and supports our community, but to embrace them! I was close to the Freemasons when they were DJ’ing, and they were clearly having the time of their life! I heard that they thought it was one of the best events they have ever played! Isn’t it great that our community can leave that kind of impression for those in the straight community?

Jeffrey Sanker and White Party Palm Springs have given tens of thousands of dollars to charities over decades, including Desert Aids Project and The Trevor Project. White Party has year after year provided jobs and employment for hundreds of people and has given gay businesses in the city of Palm Springs their single biggest economic windfall year after year. (Often times providing them with 20% of their annual revenue during White Party Week.)

$195.00 sure does seem like a small price to pay for A List entertainment, Music, DJ’s and lets not forget that White Party Palm Springs is an amazing event to get to know people from all over the world. I myself have already reconnected via email and Facebook with amazing people that I encountered at White Party.

In closing, my advice to those who want to have an amazing White Party experience check the bullet points below:

** Buy your tickets when they first go on sale, you might not be thinking about White Party in December but it will be worth it (You know your going to attend anyway) Join Jeffrey Sanker's Email List for updates @ www.jeffreysanker.com

** Stay at the Renaissance Hotel, The Pool Parties, Convention Center and T Dance are all but a hop, skip and a jump away!

**Use Sun block! The sunrays are out! Plus you don’t want a sunburn to come between you and the gorgeous boy eyeing you on the dance floor!

Hope to bump and grind into you in 2011 at one or more of the weekend’s awesome dance floors!

John Lango is notorious for his bitter and jaded posts about circuit events or promoters he doesn't like. I wouldn't listen to anything that self-important queen says. I wasn't at White Party, but if Lango says it sucked, it was probably great.

media is required to arrive at a certain time if they are truly covering the event. For him to arrive after two indicates his intent AND his inability to get out of the door. They also turn people away who look "out of it"
not saying THAT'S the case.. I'm just saying how it all works.

There's a growing trend in not letting the trash stink the place up!

John Longo was run out of town on a rail last year, from San Diego where he used to live. He's been 86ed from most of the San Diego clubs for being a notorious crackhead, so that's NO DOUBT the reason he was banned from the White Party last weekend.

Good riddance tobad rubbish I say. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before West Hollywood comes to the same realization about the pathetic crackhead dirtbag.

I feel sorry for that guy's boyfriend... if he can even get one.

He pulled the same stunt arriving at 3am for the Winter Party Sunday night event that started at 9pm - and when he was turned away, immediately posted an article trashing Task Force and the organizers

Chuckled when I saw this! My new MacBook was delivered today, and as I was migrating the files and settings, the "suggeted bookmarks" function picked up my name here and recommended it.

First off, thank you for blogging, because for the life of me I can't understand why so few people use their voices.

That said, it looks like a rebuttal was created from a person who didn't actually hear the grievance ("rumor has it, Longo was upset that he couldn't obtain media credentials..."). Rumor had it wrong. I was not upset about door prices or credentials. It was about White Party not following through on an agreement that they initiated, to cross promote with the weekend events. After months of free advertising and impressive "click-through-rates" that my site generated to his and his ticket purchasing site, after dedicated podcasts devoted to all Freemason's hits, or showcasing new songs of the lesser known performers, I was told that the VIP Pass I had would not be honored.

This was not a case of me throwing a "Don't you know who I am..." fit, like I've seen some other Hollywood gays pull. This was not an incident where I was singled out (As I was approaching to enter, people ahead of me, and for quite some time there to follow, were being turned away - without my presence being noticed or acknowledged yet.

I love the comment that I might have been too messy to admit, also. And then another telling me what my itinerary on a night of events "should" look like. Chus + Ceballos are one of my favorite DJ duos and were slotted to go until 11AM! My arrival time was not an indicator of current state, its the result of smart decision making and planning, so that a maintained balance between sobriety and fun times, is ensured throughout the weekend. With another pool party, a tea dance, and my favorite DJ still ahead from even after the after-hours, I knew I had to choose my events wisely and thoughtfully.

As I would later learn from a former employee of Jeffrey's, the reason why he does this early door close gimmick, is to push sales for the after hours, which is conveniently not included in the most popular pass sold for the weekend, the weekend pass.

At the end of the day, I'd like to think I'm anything but bitter. I feel as though two things came of the sequence of events, which were pre-destined and will be looked back on as good. I met new friends and strengthened existing acquaintances at the door, in the shared reality that we would need to go start a party of our own, in the meantime before after-hours. I had a great time after all and have more friends to hang out with back here in LA that I would not have otherwise. Also, it motivated me to use my voice, and do something to change something if I don't like it, rather than just bitch like most.

As for the anonymous commentary, yawn. I can just about imagine who's behind those, and lets just say it doesn't exactly leave me feeling broken up inside. "Ran out of town..." My roommate was being foreclosed upon so the premises needed to be vacated, and I was in LA almost every single weekend because of the abysmal club scene in SD, so I saved myself the weekly commute and simply relocated. And speaking of SD Pride last year and my turning away from the Winter Party in Miami on similar pretense, once again - something that happened for a reason. The party I did not get into opened the door for me to attend the competing event, which was put on by Peter Rauhofer - whom was a considerable part of the SD Pride equation. Peter and I buried the hatchet, he gave me all access, and now everything is better off in the end because of it.

I was flattered to see what a big deal my thoughts were to everyone, though - so for that I thank you. Happy Blogging.

White Party passes did indeed go on sale earlier this year for nearly half price....at a whopping $229!! And this only covers four parties, not including any of the pool parties or the saturday afterhours. If you think this is a deal, you need your head examined.... and the price has since risen, and will continue to do so for another six months.

Compare it to Coachella passes which cost $270 for three full days for some of the biggest DJs on the planet (including in 2010: Kaskade, Tiesto, David Guetta, Deadmau5, Benny Benassi, Bassnectar), plus dozens of bands and performers. Or the Ultra Music festival which costs $130 for two full days with an even bigger roster of world class DJs. It's then that you realize that the White Party and its $130 ticket prices exist solely to line Jeffrey Sanker's pockets.

And if it's true (as you say) that Jeffrey Sanker has given "tens of thousand of dollars...over decades", that's pretty pathetic compared to White Party Miami that donates all its profits to AIDS-related charities ("hundreds of thousands" each year, according to their website).

You say that he raised the bar this year, but after seeing video of the T Dance, and that crappy little stage with its color-bar lights, I can't imagine what previous years looked like. The year I went, it was shocking how little Sanker spent on production. At any of the world's top clubs, a $60 cover would get you VIP treatment (ie open bar), state of the art lighting and sound, and a DJ that ranks as one of the world's elites. At White Party closing party, $60 got you a crappy little lighting rig and cheap, buzzing speakers, set up in a hotel ballroom. Water was $5 a bottle, more than the hotel charged its guests.

Shame on you Mr. Sanker.
