The undeniably sexy TRAVER RAINS grew up on the back of a horse in Montana - herding cattle and fixing fences. This country boy moved to the south for college; then somehow found himself in the biggest apple - NYC. Inspired by nightlife, he started Heatherette with Richie Rich and made it a household name. You couldn’t escape Heatherette, it was on every popstar, rockstar, runway and even had its own makeup line with MAC Cosmetics. Now, Traver is in Los Angeles, and has come out with a new collection for the guys out there who are looking for something fresh and new. Let me introduce you to the new collection “T-Rains”
Who inspired you to start designing? It was sort of a necessity - as a kid I would make chaps and vest and leather accessories because buying them was too expensive. Then in NY the nightlife that I was involved in always kept me looking for interesting ways to dress. I guess in a way, the amazing people that got my attention every night inspired me with their creativity and fearlessness.
What brought you to Los Angeles? I have great friends here and after 10 years in NY I was ready for some sunshine and new faces.
How has your lifestyle changed in LA compared to NYC? I admit I miss NY very much, but when I'm on the phone with someone there who is shivering on a slushy street corner, I have to grin. I love a pool party! And I hate driving, but I just got a fun little convertible, so that is helping with the traffic torture.
What is your favorite hangout in Los Angeles? Fubar is the old standby. I have a blast at MR Blacks. Any old dive bar is fun. I prefer going to parties where people dress up and put some effort into their look.
What inspired you most for the new Collection? My photography was actually the motivation behind T-Rains. I started taking pictures and I guess out of habit I just starting picturing the way the photos would look on a t-shirt. I also wanted to offer something fun, bold and sexy for guys. It's pretty drab out there otherwise...
What inspired your “Big Mac” tops? Galen. He's obsessed with hamburgers. Our friend, Aimee, brought him this amazing plastic one from Japan, so I photographed it and turned it into the Big Mac image.
Will you have something for the girls soon? Right now I'm trying to offer as many unisex pieces as possible. Otherwise, I'll keep ya posted...
Describe the new collection in 3 words. Rough. Sex. Play.
Where can people buy T-Rains? www.T-Rains.com
What celebrity would you love to design for that you haven’t worked with already? That's a very small womens list, but I would love to see Hayden Christensen, Daniel Radcliffe, Adam Lambert and Garth Brooks in T-rains.
