Introducing "Z Hovak" in West Hollywood

Check out Z Hovak’s incredible designs at 8350 Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood or at www.zhovak.com. Open just four months and doing just fine, thanks, even in this bungled economy, Z’s growing fan base proves that getting it right doesn’t matter when.

Her wildly original collection has dusty pink crepes, silver lames, twilight purple merino wools, iris blue linens with rhinestone studs, and sunny yellow Egyptian cottons for shirts, trousers, jackets and dresses that are just as right for clubs and concerts as tea at the Bel Air Hotel, where a record producer is likely to stop by your table and ask who made your dress. (Actual thing that happened to a Z-ophyte.)

On her site www.zhovak.com, Z bills herself as a girl and her sewing machine. Probably the best definition of couture we know. She loves custom orders. And believes (passionately) that giving back is as important as making things, which is why proceeds from every single purchase are donated to The HALO Foundation, a non-profit organization that Helps Art Liberate Orphans. www.haloworldwide.org.

You won’t (ever) see her stuff in The Gap, but since no one can wait to put on a new Z, you might see a piece or two, three doors down, wandering the bakery at Gelsons.
